Director
ThereFor Pty Ltd
Robert Black, founder and chief geek at ThereFor is a graphic designer and web developer. Gadget prone to the dismay of friends and family, Robert has a Bachelor of Design (Graphic) from the National School of Design at Swinburne University.
Upon leaving school Robert was forced at gunpoint by his parents into studying engineering and then computer science. This was followed by a 3 year stint in IT Services at the University of Tasmania, within the Information Systems Group. It was during this time he discovered a passion for design and began working for various companies as a freelance designer, which in turn led to him undertaking a degree in design.
Launching the design business that has grown into ThereFor whilst a mature-age Swinburne student in 1994, Robert was an early web developer - some of his work caught the eye of the Australian Graphic Design Association, which in 1996 led to his development of the association's first website. Today that website has grown into Australia's largest online resource for graphic designers and Robert remains the site's developer.
Robert has designed a slew of corporate communications, websites, visual identities, logos, and books, for a wide array of clients (Some names that you may recognise: Boston Consulting Group, CRT Group, Cybernetics Australia, Linfox, Australia Post. See Clients for a longer list)
